CWFI specializes in hardwood, engineered, vinyl, and laminates in the Columbus, Ohio area. We provide a variety of services in those fields and indirectly a few others to get your project from point A to point B. Many other questions and answers, from dust and appliances and dumpsters, are found here too!
Furniture/Appliances
Do we move furniture? Yes, we do, and professionally so. To date, we have managed to move countless projects from room to garage to pod without a scratch! This applies to furniture, pianos, and appliances, including bathroom appliances, in the Columbus, Ohio area.
We do source our more complex piano hauls and bathroom fixtures to Davis Piano Moving and Gunther Plumbing as needed. All furniture is always in-house!
Dust
Does installation cause dust? A common question. For the most part, flooring installation is dust-free or low dust by definition. We always cut outside of the home under all circumstances, with no exception. If a project yields dust, it will be a result of demolition services. Tile removal, for example, can be among the messiest of removal services. Removing hardwood can also yield dust depending on whether it must be removed with power tools.
The good news is we regularly use plastic sheeting and tarps to cover rooms, areas, and furniture we are not using or working in proximity to. In an average year, we rarely experience any mention of dust or complaints - in fact, quite the opposite. We are often praised for the cleanliness of our job sites.

Installation
Installation? Well of course - this is our chief operation and primary service! It is our specialty, and we have decades of full-time experience exclusively in hardwood flooring, luxury vinyl, laminates, and engineered flooring in Central Ohio.
Installation of these coverings happens in a variety of manners, including glue-down installation, floating installation, and nailed installations. There are custom projects in matching your existing floors or creating a new look, from patterns to large fluid expanses in the home to simple entries.

Refinishing
Our sister company, Columbus Floor Refinishing, is the highest-ranked hardwood floor sanding service company in Columbus, Ohio!
Refinishing is a 20-year tradition at our company. The process involves the sanding of various degrees of your solid hardwood flooring surface to yield new layers of unseen wood grain. Then, we carefully polish and treat the wood with a variety of pigments, oils, and beyond to cultivate something uniquely yours.
Columbus Floor Refinishing will work with our installers on projects such as raw and unfinished hardwoods, or even match existing flooring to eventually sand and finish everything together.
Refinishing hardwood flooring is a near ancient tradition stemming from 15th-century Europe. To date, there is little schooling and certification available beyond tradition being passed from the old to the new. Some of our staff have been sanding for over 30 years. We are proud to be woodworkers in this field!
Matching & Colors
A very common inquiry we receive is how we can go about finding a proper match for your existing hardwood flooring without having to tear it all out and start over. Sometimes this is a lucky strike and sometimes very challenging.
It depends on how old your current floor is and if it remains in production. Sometimes we will find the next closest match, and we will work as hard as we can to find it. Sometimes, the answer is to install new wood in areas when desired, and sand and stain the existing wood or all your flooring to match.
In pairing with our sister company Columbus Floor Refinishing, you can expect the very best in color matching and staining in Central Ohio. We are equipped with a real-time mobile stain station with over 80 colors and apparatus to mix and create the color you require.
Custom matching and colors are a true skill of ours. We will work with you, interior designers, or contractors as needed to achieve the best result in the Columbus, Ohio area.
Stairs
Stairs are a common theme in flooring projects and a necessary one. At a quick glance, we offer the modification, repair, and replacement of stairways. This includes refinishing and installation, treads and risers, and corresponding trims.
Stairs can be challenging, as they are often built without the possibility of future renovations in mind. The industry has created a variety of good options to work around any hurdles as such, and we come prepared with all necessary knowledge and resources to provide a great stair experience.
From vinyl caps, re-tread systems, and retro treads to solid hardwood replacements and custom nosing to match - whatever it is, we have a solution! We also work with The Railway Shop frequently to rectify any issues with railings or spindles being in the way. As a separate service, they will offer the options to replace, re-spindle, and more.
Trim
Trim work needs? We have you covered. We offer most trim services, with the exception of ceiling trims.
From shoe moulding or quarter round to casing and baseboard, as well as the inside and outside corner, all trims correspond to the floor area. Often, new flooring requires the modification or replacement and installation of new trims. We will work to color match, paint, and stain trim as needed to see through a finished product.
Trim is often the final step in a flooring project. We usually work with Holmes Lumber and Paneltown and Floors for trim needs.
Paint
We do not offer in-home painting, but what we do provide are offsite trim and riser painting in Columbus, Ohio. We want to offer clients a complete job and avoid burdening you with the need to source multiple contractors. We will work to match paint colors, paint trims, and other mouldings as needed to create a finalized job site.
Subflooring & Leveling
Sub-flooring is sometimes in need of repair (usually minor), and sometimes in need of new installation. We offer full 3/4" subfloor anchoring to joists or your concrete slab. We also install and provide luan subfloor installation as needed to raise the height of your subfloors or protect them from glued applications.
We will repair and replace subflooring where needed to advance your flooring installation project and preserve the integrity of your subfloors. This also includes leveling services, from concrete slab pour leveling to luan sheeting and shims.
We’ll do whatever is necessary to prepare your subfloor for the installation as well as its stability and longevity. There are many subfloor options to choose from, but we are prepared and skilled to assist as needed.
